Shark's Fin Arete (arete is a sharp mountain ridge) is in Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, California. The desert landscape with huge brown boulders contrast with the granite mountains of the Eastern Sierras. The arete looks small compared to Lone Pine Peak in the distance, but it is actually quite tall. Shark's Fin is 4641' high. Lone Pine Peak is 12,949' high.
