The final Delta II launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base occurred at 6:02am on the morning of September 15, 2018.
The rocket punches through the thick layer of clouds and continues its ascent into the sky. It was a sight to behold and I was blessed and honored to witness and photograph it with my friends. It carried a satellite for NASA that measures the earth's ice, clouds and elevation.
Mankind continues to explore the world around us. Stretching science to the limit and not putting boundaries on our curiosity will assure us that we will continue to learn about the world and universe we live in for years and years to come.

Lindsay Thomson is a photographer who specializes in a variety of landscape images. Her photos have garnered her awards in juried exhibitions locally and internationally. Living in Southern California in close proximity to local beaches, Lindsay enjoys photographing sunrises, sunsets and long exposure images over the ocean. A national forest is close to home and offers many opportunities for photography as well. She enjoys astrophotography, specifically Milky Way and star trails combined with unique foreground elements.
