Description
The luxury liner La Jenelle was washed ashore at Port Hueneme CA during a storm on April 13, 1970. It was 466' and could hold 1000 passengers. It could not be salvaged after repeated attempts. Navy Seabees placed large boulders around the hull and incorporated it into a jetty. Portions of the rusted hull can be seen above the surface of the ocean. This popular surf break is known to the locals as Shipwrecks.
