Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Artist's Description
My camera collected six hours of stars for a total of 693 images during the night in a dark sky area of the central coast of California. As the Earth rotates, all the constellations appear to rotate around Polaris, the North Star. There are meteors and satellites are in the image as well. They are the diagonal lines in the image.
No filter was used to create the colors of the star trails. These are the colors the camera's sensor picked up (professional camera) during the night. Since there are so many stars in this stacked image, a dark blue sky is not visible. The pink/mauve warm tones are the colors of the stars filling the skies. Only in locations with very dark skies, void of light pollution can one see so many stars.
The moon rose during the early morning hours and lit the foreground to reveal a native Coast Live Oak Tree directly below Polaris.
