Description
The Bridge of Sighs in Venice, Italy was built from limestone in 1600. It spans the Rio di Palazzo and connects the New Prison to the interrogation rooms in the Doge's Palace. Convicts last views of beautiful Venice were through the small windows on the bridge, thus eliciting "sighs" as they walked to prison.
In the distance, tourists brave the rain to catch a view of Italian architecture, the river and the timeless beauty of the city of Venice.
