Bodie became a boom town in 1876 after the discovery of gold. By 1879 it had a population of 5,000–7,000. This is a view of the Bodie schoolhouse and neighboring buildings as seen from the back of the buildings. One can imagine children playing behind the school during the days of the gold rush.
Lindsay Thomson is a photographer who specializes in a variety of landscape images. Her photos have garnered her awards in juried exhibitions locally and internationally. Living in Southern California in close proximity to local beaches, Lindsay enjoys photographing sunrises, sunsets and long exposure images over the ocean. A national forest is close to home and offers many opportunities for photography as well. She enjoys astrophotography, specifically Milky Way and star trails combined with unique foreground elements.
